Street Style Mumbai Vada Pav by Delicious Recipe

Ingredients for making Vada

  • 3 large potatoes boiled and mashed
  • 1/2 tsp mustard
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 1 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp amchur
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 2 tbsp green coriander finely chopped
  • salt to taste

Ingredients to Make Besan Batter

  • 1 cup besan
  • 1/4 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • 2 pinch baking soda
  • 1 pinch asafoetida powder
  • salt to taste
  • oil for frying

Ingredients for Vada Pav Chutney

  • 1 cup dry coconut cut into small pieces
  • 2 tsp white sesame
  • 6-8 whole red chilies
  • 1 tbsp ground peanuts
  • 1/4 cup peeled garlic
  • 1 tsp tamarind pulp
  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon oil

Steps In Making Mumbai Vada Pav

To Make Stuffing

  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and asafoetida, after mustard seeds add green chili and ginger garlic paste and cook for some time.
  • Then add boiled potatoes, salt, red chili, amchur powder, and fry for some time. Switch off the gas by mixing lemon juice and green coriander.
  • And let the mixture cool down completely. When it cools down, divide it into 10 equal parts and make balls out of it.

To Make Batter

  • Mix gram flour and baking soda and sieve them in a big vessel. Mix oil, salt, red chili powder, asafoetida powder and make a thick batter by adding water.
  • Now heat oil in a pan, after the oil is heated well, dip a ball of the mixture in the solution and put it in the oil carefully,
  • Similarly, put 4-5 balls. And fry on medium flame till golden brown. Similarly, keep all the vadas at the bottom.

To Make Chutney

  • Heat a kadhai, put shredded coconut in it, and fry it on low flame till it becomes light golden and take it out.
  • Then put sesame in the same pan and fry it till it becomes light golden and take it out.
  • Now put a spoonful of oil in the pan and add garlic and fry it on low flame for some time. Switch off the gas and let it cool down.
  • After cooling, mix all the ingredients and grind them finely.
  • Chutney is ready

For Serving Vada Pav

  • Cut the pav or bun from the middle and apply chutney in it, then keep a vada and close it.
  • Serve with green chutney or tomato sauce.
